History Workshop published a series of 13 pamphlets between 1970 and 1974, written by students at Ruskin College. A number of these started as papers delivered to History Workshops in the late 1960s and early 1970s. They are now available here in our online collection.

History Workshop 1
Information from the first History Workshop, organised by Raphael Samuel, which took place at Ruskin College on 4th March 1967, entitled ‘A Day with the Chartists.’
History Workshop 2
History Workshop 2 on ‘Education and the Working Class in Nineteenth-Century England’ took place at Ruskin College on 4 November 1967.
History Workshop 3
History Workshop 3, entitled ‘The English Countryside in the 19th Century (Including Wales),’ took place at Ruskin College on Saturday 16 November 1968.
History Workshop 4
History Workshop 4, held without an overarching theme, took place at Ruskin College on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 November 1969.
History Workshop 5
History Workshop 5, titled ‘Workers’ Control in 19th Century England’, took place at Ruskin College on 13 and 14 February 1971.
History Workshop 6
History Workshop 6 on ‘Childhood in History: Children’s Liberation’ took place at Ruskin College between 5 May and 7 May 1972.
