First established in 1996, the summer school runs for two nights a week and provides an informal but informative setting for students wishing to study Irish literature over the summer. Each week a set text is discussed in class on Tuesday evening and the following Thursday the author reads and speaks about it to students.

Guest Writers:

Costa Prize-winning Catherine O’Flynn returns to the summer school to discuss her latest novel Mr Lynch’s Holiday in which a father and son discover the truth about each other and the family past

Seán Hutton was born in Dublin and is one of Ireland’s foremost Gaelic language poets. He will be discussing his work over the last thirty five years and in particular his poetry in English translation

Irish/Nigerian writer Gabriel Gbadamosi will be reading and discussing his award-winning novel Vauxhall about a young boy of mixed race background growing up in 1970s London
