Willy Goldman’s ‘East End My Cradle’

It’s my pleasure to invite you to a seminar and reception to mark the Faber Finds reissue of Willy Goldman’s classic memoir of the Jewish East End, East End My Cradle, first published in 1940.

Speakers:

  • Professor Valentine Cunningham (Oxford University) on Willy Goldman
  • Professor Tony Kushner (Southampton University) on the historiography of the East End
  • Professor David Cesarani (Royal Holloway University of London) on East End Jewish writers
  • Dr Hannah Ewence (Southampton University) on remembering the East End
  • Tim Bell (Queen Mary, University of London) on working-class writing
  • Dr Nadia Valman (Queen Mary, University of London) interviewing Bill Goldman, Willy Goldman’s son

Time: Friday 15 July 2011, 2-4pm, followed by a reception
