  1. So sorry to hear this news about Alun. He was my tutor at Sussex Uni and we had a bond in that we had both been students at Ruskin College. He was friendly, warm, full of naughty fun stories, characterful and smart and a real inspiration to generations of students. Some of the light went out of him after the death of one of his sons and, again we had a bond as i had lost a brother so knew something of that loss. He was a special man.

  2. I had not heard. I live in Shetland, and got to know Alun when I went to the University of Sussex, as a mature student in 1977. He was a really good fellow, and treated me very kindly while i found my feet. Sorry I did not make an effort to track him down earlier, I would have loved a yarn
